Игра-викторина It’s fun to learn English
(5 класс)
Цели:
- повторить пройденный учебный материал в неформальной обстановке при помощи игр и конкурсов;
- подвести итог проведенной учебной работе на данном этапе обучения английскому языку;
- повысить интерес учащихся к изучению английского языка.
Задачи мероприятия:
- образовательная -
- 1) совершенствование навыков чтения и устной речи;
- 2) выявление степени усвоения лингвострановедческого материала;
- 3) повышение мотивации к изучению английского языка;
- развивающая -
- 1) развитие речемыслительной деятельности учащихся;
- 2) развитие лингвострановедческой компетенции учащихся;
- 3) развитие внимания и памяти;
- 4) развитие интереса к изучению английского языка;

- 1) воспитание толерантности, сотрудничества и взаимопомощи при работе в группе;

ХОД МЕРОПРИЯТИЯ
1. Приветствие ведущего
Quiz-master: Good afternoon, children and our guests! I’m very glad to see you here. Now we shall organize a competition called “Intellectual Marathon”. Two teams will take part in a game of the most quick-witted and the cleverest. It’s time to introduce yourselves. Who is the captain of the 1st team? P1: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is “Erudites”. Our motto is “Enjoy English!” Quiz-master: Who is the captain of the 2nd team? P2: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is “Optimists”. Our motto is “Learn English!”. (Состав команд, их названия и девиз определяются заранее). Quiz-master: Today all of you have a good chance to improve your English during the game. Now I’m going to teach you how to play this game. The game has 9 contests, they are:
1. The Captains’ contest.
2. Speaking letters
3. A magic 5.
4. Go through the marsh.
5. Drawing contest.
6. Singing contest.
7. Parts and wholes.
8. A tongue-twister.
9. Proverbs and sayings.

1. Captains’ contest “Understand me” Конкурс капитанов “Пойми меня” .
Ученик изображает два предложенных слова с помощью жестов, а члены команд должны догадаться о значении изображаемого слова:
(plane, rabbit) (bus, dog)
2. “Speaking letters” “Говорящие буквы” (буквы, которые звучат как некоторые слова).
1) Какая буква “омывает” Великобританию со всех сторон? ( C – sea)
2) Какая буква “приносит” мед? ( B – bee)
3) Какую букву вы “пьете” каждый день? ( T – tea)
4) Какая буква является вопросительным словом? (Y – why)
4) Назовите буквы-местоимения. ( I – I, U – you)
5) Какая буква всегда “восклицает”? ( O – oh)

3. “A magic box”
1) I have a magic box. It helps me to give you the first task. Each right word give you 1 point.
a) Name 5 words (Food).
b) Name 5 words (Colours).
c) Name 5 days of week.
d) Name 5 months of the year.
e) Name 5 school things.
f) Name 5 animals.

4. “Go through the marsh” “Пройди через болото”.
Участники команд проходят по “болотным кочкам” (карточки с буквами разложенные на полу) и разгадывают загадки.
Riddles.
1. What has a face but no head, and hands but no fingers? (A clock)
2. What can fly but has no wings? (Time)
3. They stand next to each other and yet they cannot see each other? (Eyes)
4. What has feet but cannot run? (A chair)
5. It is running night and day, but it never runs away? (A clock)
6. It hears everything and says nothing? (An ear)
7. What has a hundred teeth but cannot eat? (A saw)
8. What has arms and legs but no head? (An arm-chair)
9. It’s big. It’s got brown hair, a big head, big ears, a long nose and no tail. It likes honey and berries. At the circus it can dance and ride a bike.
10. It’s a big animal with light (светлый) brown hair. It’s got long hair on it’s head, little ears, a short nose, a big mouth with big teeth. It’s got a long tail. It likes meat very much. At the circus it can jump beautifully and it can ride a horse.

5. “Drawing” (Рисование)
But now want to see how well you can draw. One pupil from each team comes to the blackboard. Of course, it is a very simple task. But I have just one little note: you must draw the animal with closed eyes! So, the first picture must be a mouse, the second one is an elephant, (and the third one is a pig, a horse …etc.)
Teacher So beautiful! I even didn’t know that you could draw so nice. Very good! And now, while our judges count your marks I suggest you to sing and dance a little.
6. Singing contest ( Музыкальный конкурс) Одна песня от каждой команды.
And now the word is given to our fair judges.
7. “Parts and wholes”. ( Части и целое)
The 7th contest is called “Parts and wholes”. I need 1 pupil from each team. You should combine these parts so as to get a popular name. Who will be the first? You can get 1 point for each right answer. Our respected judges will check your works. And we are doing the next task.
1. Mickey a) Claus

8. “Tongue-twisters” ( Скороговорки)
The following task is for the rest . I need 1 pupil from each team. You should read the tongue-twister as quickly as you can 3 times.
1. Put your head on your bed. (для первой команды)
2. Pat's fat cat sat in Pat's hat. (для второй команды).

9. Proverbs. (Пословицы)
Give the Russian equivalent of the following proverbs
1. It's never too late to learn.
2. First think, then speak.
3. Business before pleasure.
4. Two heads are better than one.
5. The appetite comes with eating.
6. Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
7. Well begun is half done.
8. All is well that ends well.

12. East or West, home is best.

9. Заключительный этап. Подведение итогов игры
Quiz-master: Friends, do you like the game? Tell me your impressions, how do you like it, why, what was the most interesting, or the most difficult? What have you learn during it? Do you want to have smth like that again? Your wishes. The score is … to … in smb’s favour. The team “…” is the winner.
